The Moral Position of Tristan and Isot in Welsh Folklore

Folk tales tend not to take a moral position. The moral position will have been inserted by whoever is telling the tale. In Buruil you have this conflict of kind of duty and love. It seems to be very often called the primitive version, although I personally don't particularly like that term. But I think it is closer perhaps to the kind of complexities you get in the heroic world,. You have this image of Mark and of Tristan as heroic characters. Now there's something very interesting in Buruil - he includes this rather strange story that King Mark has horses ears.
