The Role of the Great Mother in Jungian Psychology
In terms of Jungian psychology we have some very archetypal images in this story. The youngest and most defenseless is sent out alone into the woods. We also have the wolf, an archetypal image of the wildness inside of us. Interestingly little red cap even though she is a maiden has a trickster energy and a capacity to use her wits in service of self-protective aggression.
