The male biologists who were studying blue jays and refused to see what was in front of their eyes. It's actually the Pinion J, not the blue jay. They couldn't find any aggressive behavior because apparently Pinion J males were committed pacifists. Even when they started trying to go to territorial wars between males by laying out tasty treats of greasy mealworms and stuff, still the males refused to fight.
