How to Preserve Labor as a Commodity

The idea is just that if it's just supply and demand that regulates the value of something, then we can be driven to want valueless things. And so instead of automation leading to the reduction or elimination of work, you preserve labor as a commodity. So because you produce all these jobs which are essentially designed to glorify and distribute these commodities...you multiply all of these pseudo needs. That's one of the mechanisms by which you prevent technological advancement from reducing the need for people to work.
