The Importance of Quality of Life

In an ideal world, $10,000 would be the minimum per capita GDP that we view as acceptable. We're not there yet. I think it justifies why certain economists and many economists are so concerned with growth. It's not just about making the rich richer. In fact, for most of us, it's not about that at all. But to the extent that you're also helping lift people out of the worst of poverty, then that's really what I think really matters.
