Family and Nursing in a Public Hospital

The presence of family isn't always assumed to make a patient calmer, but patients, if they're awake and conscious may ask for family members. So sometimes family members will be called in to do that. And just kind of accompaniment is a labor that family members are often asked to do. There's also sort of a tacit sense that agitation among family members is sort of a net bad for everyone in the room, patients and providers both.
