Scientists have been trying to put all the pieces together and learn more about what actually happened there. These grass lands were the first pathways that human civilization began utilizing to pass from east to west and west to east. They passed through some of the most desolate parts of central asia. But it was a path that existed, and it was easier to traverse than mountains and deserts. If you go on google earth and zoom out far enough, so that the entirety of the asian continent fills your screen, you'll see this one rugby, ball shaped area like jupiter's red spot. That's the tarim basin.
