Donald Trump is likely to have staying power like so many other populists who were able to cleave the country into his passionate supporters and his even more passionate opponents. The hope that the Republican party may continue to have the institutional capacity or that it might find the will to stand in the way of Donald Trump seems quite remote. So I really try to push Sam on the question of whether the world would have been a better place for the last 2000 years if religion had not existed. America today is becoming better because of the rapid secularization the country is going through.
