The City of Rameses
Unlike many cities that last forever, the city of rameses disappeared for very good reason. It was connected to the mediterranean and to the delta base of egypt by a branch of the nile. By the year 11 30 b c, the royal family left the city and moved back to phis. And the city was largely abandoned. Most of the blocks, statues, obelisks that made up the grand city were moved to build a new city 12 miles to the north calleda tanis.
