"I grew up on a radio basically, R&B and rock and roll," he says. "We didn't even have a record player in my house since that was 16." The Puerto Rican cats took a major racial hit during the '50s when his neighbors were living next door. He's been doing great at Juilliard; I love talking to him about like the music he was hearing as a teenager.
