Edwin and Morcar went to Eley together, like the bulk of the record say they did. But version D of the chronicle says that the reason why Morcar was at Eley alone was because while they were on the lamb, Edwin was killed by his own men. It's also a scenario that seems likely from a strategic standpoint because the rebellion needed support.
