Devaluing Exploratory Hypothesis Tests
The idea of devaluing an exposure result as being more tentative than a confirmatory result without considering other relevant issues is common. Exploratory tests are important because you need them to actually generate the hypothesis that we're testing. Well-made exploratory analysis that's done with good reasons on data that's well collected is not the same as something that's had the living shit explode out.
