The Death of Sulla Marcus Lepidus
There are several different accounts of Sulla's death, which occurred later that very year. The idea of being eaten alive by maggots actually comes up in a lot of ancient stories of the ends of villainous tyrants. In Appian, another reliable source on Sulla, there's no trace of flesh-eating worms. Sulla simply died of a fever, and a very fast one that lasted only a day.
