Last year over 9,500 people died in traffic crashes in the first quarter of this year alone. Mayor Rahm Emanuel: "We should all be up in arms about roadway deaths" There are other countries that have dramatically lower rates of roadway deaths than U.S., he says. The strategy has five elements, safer roads, safer vehicles, safer drivers and a better standard of post-crash care.
