I think it's important to establish the communication around depression over the whole relationship and then you're in a great position to apply it to sex. I use a thing called spoon theory, which is very popular in the chronic illness community, right? So because I have depression, showering in the morning might take me two spoons where it takes my boyfriend half a spoon. It would give us a way to communicate that we both understood that was really like an easy shorthand. Part of the communication here also has to be with your healthcare provider or whoever you're working with when it comes to managing depression or other mental health issues.
