Did your fellow travellers round on you when you recanted? I don't think so. Everyone has to come to his own conclusion about their support for the Iraq War, or anything else that goes wrong. You speak very warmly on that count of George H.W. Bush as being someone who, you know, wouldn't please the journalists and intellectuals, but actually dealt with the burden of power. Well, what was it he got right? It's the great thing about George H.w. Bush, the elder bush, is that not what happened during his presidency, but what did not happen during his presidency. That can be a form of greatness too.
