The Multiracial Character of Voodoo Ceremony

Voodoo was often slandered as the superstition of ignorant slaves, or it was characterized as something deeply black or African. The meeting lasted from seven to nine o'clock and they would have things to eat and drink. There were more white people at the meetings than colored. So at a voodoo ceremony in New Orleans in the 19th century, it's fair to say that you could expect some blessings, some dancing, a whole lot of music, and even more food.
