John von Neumann was at the centre of various scientific and mathematical developments over the next 40 years or so. He lays down kind of the mathematics really, quantum mechanics. All the easy stuff. And he proves mathematically the machines can reproduce themselves. That's his self reproducing automata. So we're in Los Alamos. They had a good time out there in the desert. These mathematicians and the wives and everyone else. I mean, they were allowed to bring their wives in. The wives had to contribute to doing computations on slide rules and so on and punch cards.
