This variant then could evade our immunity in a better way, it sounds like. But the caveat there is that this is a single mutation. Now, XBB itself already has other mutations relative to older, to its ancestors in the receptor binding domain. The problem with Omicron is not necessarily its inherent virulence. It's the fact that it's so transmissible and people are not necessarily up to date on their boosters. And we have fewer precautions that people are taking.
