The Importance of Self-Expression
Hollywood is a metaphor for the way in which society is customizing identities and then selling them back to us. I think this book would be particularly of interest to people who are under the spell of Hollywood as well as stimulate the obsession with Hollywood. It might be just as effective or useful or meaningful to someone who isn't so strongly identified with Hollywood values or those kind of ambitions just as a template. We all have our crucial fictions to use the term for prison infinity we've developed these invested identifications with culture by which we're constantly looking for confirmation from the culture that we're getting it right.
