When I started out of course there was none of this and I just went off on my own. There weren't many women doing this job then although that wasn't something I particularly thought about until later on. So it was often quite hard to persuade the Afghan majedians take me because they'd say you know like women don't go to school but I did persuade this group at one point to take me on the backs of their motorbikes to Kandahar with these guys who ended up becoming the Taliban actually. The post was so bad from Pakistan I'm not sure it really arrived until I came back anyway. It's changed a lot, especially around the time of the war in Iraq
