Child Neurology in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities

This chapter explores the challenges faced in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neurological conditions in Africa, particularly focusing on epilepsy. It discusses the limited resources, capacity, and recognition of neurologic conditions in the continent and highlights issues such as misdiagnosis, limited access to medications and screening tools, and the impact of COVID-19. The chapter also explores ways in which individuals can contribute and make a difference in global pediatric neurology in Uganda.
