Translatability Crisis and Replicability Crisis in Biomedical Research

Translational research has been such a buzz word term in recent years, and it sounds really aspirational. What we mean by translation is often people create disease models in animals so that they'll engineer some animal to develop symptoms that are similar to human disease. And if that works, then they say, well, let's see if that translates to humans. To do that you have to go a, you know, find the resources to run clinical trials on humans. The failure t of these clinical trials is something in the order of 80 to 90 or more % a depending on the type of disease. So there's a real cost to those high failure rits rates.
