The Differential in AQD Myelinating Encephalopathies

MRI chest abdomen pelvis is not required for an initial diagnosis, but may be required for the detection of teratomas. Common features on MRI would be abnormality in the gray and white matter with CSF testing suggesting antibodies against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein or MOG. AQD myelinating encephalopathies would specifically be seen after an infectious trigger or even after a vaccine. Other rare causes of neuropsychiatric disturbances include bricker staffs,. brainstem encephalitis, which is characterized by subacute onset, progressive impairment of consciousness along with ataxia and bilateral mostly symmetrical of thalmoparasis.
