How I Got Started Recording Hip Hop Records

Rick Rubin: I started recording hip hop records really just as a documentarian and for myself as a fan. The first record I made in that way was called It's Yours by Tularock and Jazzy J. And then I met someone named Arthur Baker who had a label that was more of an R&B label, but he asked if we could put it out on Party Time. He wanted to have the Death Jam logo on it. There may have been a contract and they said they would pay us something like $2,000,. But I don't even remember if they did.
