Crime is such a multifaceted thing, and there are so many reasons why it goes up and down. Most experts agree on a few things because this violent crime surge happened in most places. The lockdowns made school shutdown; vulnerable teens that may not have had other forms of social support were just left with nothing. A lot of people also lost their jobs at the start of the pandemic,. And that contributed to a sense of stress that many families felt.
