The Parallels Between the Middle and the Elite
Bertrand: The powers that be will hollow out the middle in alliance with outliers periphery populations. And so that's what happened in Rome as the freedmen who own land would have been farmers are sent off to war, they're hollowed out. He says we can very much see this happening in America, where middle America is sacrificed through outsourcing of jobs and economic and middle class wealth for the elite coastal areas.
