A Child Has Already Been Born, and Authority Rests on His Shoulders
Many think this child is hezekiah. He's the king who ruled in jerusalem in seven o one, when the assyrians attacked, but were repelled. Now, by all accounts, he was a good king, and so he's praised by isaiah. Authority rests upon his shoulders, and he has named wonderful count, almighty god, everlasting father, prince of peace. These lofty descriptions are known in scholarship as throne names. They're bestowed on kings at their when they become king, at their time of coronation.
