The Effects of Sunlight on Nitrogen Oxides in the Atmosphere

Researchers at Toronto University found that when glass beads were left out in the sun, they released more nitrogen oxides. The action of sunlight on these surfaces can release important nitrogen oxide-containing molecules back into the atmosphere. This is unexpected and will require us to rethink just how rapidly the nitrogen oxide molecules are being removed from the atmosphere.
