The Australian Centre for Evaluation
The Australian Centre for Evaluation received $10 million that was allocated in over the next four years. The centre will work cooperatively right across governments engaging with agencies on evaluating programs. One of the things I'm keen to learn from is the Obama Administration's Low Cost Randomised Trials Competition which showed you could do randomized trials for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars and turn results round very quickly. We need to get away from this idea that every randomized trial needs to be like the Perry Preschool Early Childhood Trial that costs tens of millions of dollars and took decades. You can do things quickly and particularly the advent of administrative data means that you can do things cheaply.
