The miral programme was not only to put people to work, but it was to promote a certain kind of a healthy image. Often these murals featured vistas of agriculture and industry,. very healthy, muscular, historic landscapes. They didn't need to just be in federal buildings. And there were hundreds in new york which is just so wonderful.
