How Popper Was Wrong About Falsification
Many physicers can tell funny stories of emales received from some one or other who claims to have, for example, proven einstein wrong. They look at the mathematics and refuse to believe that their common sense notion could possibly be false. These people haven't actually read much of relativity or about the conservation of energy. To those visitors i say that cranky engine has a counterpart in philosophy. They are the people who've read the popular account. And those that have read beyond the popurian headlines are terribly naive about how science actually works. So let me leave this episode with some words directly from popper himself. I'm going to read from unended quest, an intellectual autobiography.
