i think there's kind of two different ways that you can go about this. One is to use the bible as you would any other piece of literary evidence. Then there are people who cite the bible to win an argument. I don't think that is the right way to understand the absolute truth of the bible. And if you're trying to persuade somebody to accept the bible as absolute truthand well, the bible says xxwires et et? That seems to me an illegitimate use of the bible as an academic source. There are some people who believe that the bible can ground its own authority in order to refer to it and prove a point. i agree that that is question begging.
