i grew up with a serious pain disorder as part of my physic. My doctor taught me this pain management technique, which i found out later, is something that like long distance athletes use. The idea is that you go into that mental space and you're just a mind, you're not a body. And whatever pain you're in, you're only in it for eight seconds. It can feel like a way of controlling the imagination of pain to come. I think everybody their own version of this neutral room. Like some people are wild, and their neutral room is like jogging. But do you have a neutral yours is probably pushups or something? Something really healthy and good for you
