I-Saving's Bonds - Are There Any Tax Benefits?
The stock market has over outperformed bonds over the long term but it kind of depends when you need that money. There are tax benefits so you do have to pay federal income tax on your I-BON interest. The state and local tax benefits are probably a bigger deal for most people. You can use the interest for education expenses as well so they're kind of like a backdoor college savings fund in that way.
