Albania had been a hard lined communist dictatorship since the early 19 forties. In 19 90, even albania finally agreed to allow independent political parties following a wave of protests. Laya was an 11 year old schoolgirl and watched events with consternation. She soon discovered that her parents had a secret past that they had been afraid to reveal.
