The Role of Government in Early Intervention
The first few years of a child's life, including the nine months of pregnancy, affect them for the rest of their lives. We usually think of education as the primary mode of improving a child's environment, but that's not enough. A UK government report found that funding should be shifted from later to earlier interventions. And we already have some programs like Sure Start in the US and head start in the UK.
