The Evolution of Midwifery in the United States
Historically midwives have been women typically kind of elders who already had their own family and learned through apprenticeship. Now we have these two categories so there's a certified nurse midwife which are nurses they're, you know, fully trained registered nurses who get a midwifery credential. And then there's the direct entry path, which is also that credentials called certified professional midwife but those are really sort of like extendingThat legacy of those midwives I was speaking about before that were really community based and Learned through Apprenticeship.
