The Unifying Theme of US Policy Toward Latin America
I find it hard to portray current US policy toward Latin America in the form of a narrative because there isn't really one. I would say that the US policy toward the stuff of Petros Columbia is more like a chorus of voices that is not always singing in harmony. It really varies by agency. If you talk to the State Department, they'll be talking about democracy. We talked to Southcom, they're going to talk about China. And obviously, migration is an escapable issue here. But Central America is probably the sub-region of the hemisphere that has seen democracy backslide the most.
