Tokugawa Yasu and the Unification of Japan

Tokugawa Yasu was the third Shogun of Japan. He took over in 1600 after a battle between an Eastern and Western army. feudal lords had to pledge allegiance to him, but were also under his watchful eye. The Tokugawa family tried to keep their rivals poor so they could not rise against them.
