Falling Prices Promote Economic Growth Not the Other Way Around

In pursuit of 2% inflation, the Japanese have nearly 4% inflation. The CPI came out in Japan on Thursday and the year over year increase in consumer prices was 3.8%. If you strip out fresh food, it was 3.7%. That is a 41 year high. It's not that falling prices cause the Depression, it's that the Depression caused prices to fall. And it's a good thing that they fell because that eased the burden of the Depression. But just because they could afford to pay higher taxes doesn't mean they want to. They would not be in this predicament, but for the asinine policies of economics and this pursuit of2% inflation.
