The Fed's Liquidity Support Debate
Lev Menand has called into question the Fed's use of this power. He makes a distinction, I like at least, between liquidity facilities and credit facilities. The lines are always going to be really fuzzy, so there's a risk that if you set different standards for the two it could make it difficult to figure out which bucket anything goes into.
