John Mayall was one of the first British Blues Obsessives. Born in Mackelsfield and grew up in Giedel Hume, both relatively well off suburbs of Manchester. He had been a Blues fan from the late 1940s until his death two months ago. By most accounts he'd put together the biggest Blues collection in Britain by quite some way.
