Demission's War on the State

Demission's first official act as emperor was to push through an edict deifying his deceased brother Titus. The new emperor then set to work, closely tying himself not to the senate, but to the gods. He unceremoniously stripped the senate of all practical authority and ensured that they were cut out of the decision-making process completely. Demission instead elevated men of the lower-ranking equestrian class to positions they never would have been considered for in another administration.
