I think refactoring tools are greatly improved by the fact that there is this concept of static type annotations. If you're a library in Python, you have to work with the system now because people expect it. I'm not 100% optimistic on PEP-44 but it definitely is way better than nothing. There's some also some features that are coming, that are in PEPs that have not been implemented as this thing called variadic types which would allow us to actually be able to type your results set coming back.
