The History of the United States
The Articles of Confederation was the first governing document in the United States. The states were supposed to have rights and freedoms, but they also wanted a weak federal government because they got rid of the king. At some point, Massachusetts couldn't pay off its portion of the war debt from the Revolutionary War so it decided to tax everybody. If this sounds familiar, that's because that's exactly what happened to start the revolution in the first place.
