The Englishman and the Alchemist Meet Again

In the first section, a man meets an alchemist and asks him to teach him how to make gold. He says he hasn't tried it yet because he's just been reading about it. The alchemist tells him: "Just go try yourself. You need to try it first" In the second part of the story, this same man finds out that his girlfriend is not who he thought she was. And after only five minutes of talking with her, he has already made up his mind they are going to be married.
