The Laying on of Hands in the Day of Atonement
Laying on of hands is used for sacrifices that are not atonement sacrifices. The third offering in leviticus, a peace offering, does not atone for sin. In the day of atonement, this happens to the goat that stays alive. To the goat, the goat is exiled out into the wild as two goats,. One's killed, it's riht. One's exiled. And the one that's killed is not the one that has the sins confessed over it. So the laying out of hands doesn't make logical sense.
