In 16 98, a man named john casting ted posted price lists for stocks and commodities at jonathan's coffee house. This was really the first time all of these prices were brought together in one place that was easily and publicly accessible. Sometimes it's described as the beginning of the london stock exchange, although that was not formally founded until much later.
