The Trial of Gil and Harp

The three men were tried in Japanese court in March of 1996. They do not have jury trials in Japan. Gil pleaded guilty to rape, even though he originally recanted his confession and the other two pleaded guilty to conspiracy. Prosecutors asked for the max for each of them, which was 10 years each. The judges said they believed Laddet, the real, the guy who was the helper who didn't actually commit a rape and said that. But Harp had already confessed to the rape and they could not rely on his later testimony that denied it.
